The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 About the great event, 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 The rebels' abode, 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
