Say: 'I am only a warner. There is not any god but God, the One, the Omnipotent, 65 "The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, the All-Mighty, the Oft-Forgiving." 66 Say thou: it is a tiding mighty. 67 [how can] you turn away from it?" 68 I had no knowledge of the Exalted Assembly when they argued [against the creation of man]: 69 It has not been revealed to me except that I am a clear warner." 70 [For,] lo, thy Sustainer said unto the angels: "Behold, I am about to create a human being out of clay; 71 And when I have fashioned him and breathed into him of My Spirit, then fall down before him prostrate, 72 The angels prostrated themselves, all of them. 73 Except Iblis; he was proud and was, from the beginning, a disbeliever. 74 Said He: "O Iblis! What has kept thee from prostrating thyself before that [being] which I have created with My hands? Art thou too proud [to bow down before another created being,] or art thou of those who think [only] of themselves as high?" 75 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "I am better than he, You created me from fire, and You created him from clay." 76 Allah said: get thee forth therefrom; verily thou art driven away. 77 "And verily!, My Curse is on you till the Day of Recompense." 78 He said, "Lord, grant me respite until the Day of Resurrection". 79 Answered He: "Verily, so [be it:] thou shalt be among those who are granted respite 80 till the Day of the known time' 81 He said: Then by Thy Might I will surely make them live an evil life, all, 82 Save Thy bondmen among them Sincere. 83 [And God] said: "This, then, is the truth! And this truth do I state: 84 I shall assuredly fill Gehenna with thee, and with whosoever of them follows thee, all together.' 85 (O Prophet), tell them: “I do not ask you for any recompense for the performance of this task; nor am I given to affectation. 86 This is nothing else but a reminder to all the worlds, 87 you shall before long know its truth." 88
