The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do they not think they will be raised (to life) again 4 unto a mighty day 5 a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner! 12 Who, when thou readest unto him Our revelations, saith: (Mere) fables of the men of old. 13 By no means! Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning. 14 No indeed, on that Day they shall be veiled from their Lord. 15 then they shall enter the Fire of Hell, 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? 19 a written record, 20 which the angels placed near Allah to safeguard. 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 On couches face to face. 23 You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure. 24 They will be served a drink of the finest sealed wine, 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 And the admixture of it is a water of Tasnim, 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say: "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!" 32 Yet they were not sent as guardians over them. 33 On the Day of Judgment, the believers will laugh at the disbelievers 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
