The dwellers of the thicket gave the lie to the apostles. 176 Behold, Shu'aib said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? 177 I am for you a faithful Messenger, so fear you God, and obey you me. 178 Have fear of God and obey me. 179 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 180 ۞ Fill up the measure, do not be among the cheats, 181 weigh with an even balance 182 “And do not give the people their goods diminished, and do not roam the earth causing turmoil.” 183 "And fear Him Who created you and the generations of the men of old." 184 They said, "You are no more than a bewitched and insane man 185 You are only a human being like ourselves. Indeed we think you are a liar. 186 So cause a piece of the sky to fall upon us if you are truthful." 187 He said: My Lord is Best Aware of what ye do. 188 But they belied him, then the punishment of the Day of Shadow (raining fire) seized them. Truly, it was the punishment of a dreadful day. 189 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 190 And lo! thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 191
