The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 And you do not will except that Allah wills - Lord of the worlds. 29
