The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night! 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 [for] no human being has ever been left unguarded. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Verily, (Allah) is Able to bring him back (to life)! 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 he shall have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain, 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 Indeed the Qur’an is a decisive Word. 13 and is no idle tale. 14 They are hatching up a plot, 15 and so am I: 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
