Have you then seen him who turns his back? 33 who at first gave a little, then later held back? 34 Does he possess the knowledge of the Unseen, and therefore he sees? 35 Has he not been made acquainted with what was written in the scriptures of Moses? 36 and of Abraham, who to his trust was true: 37 “That no bearer of a burden shall bear the burden of another, 38 And that man will not obtain anything except what he strove for? 39 That his endeavours will be judged, 40 Then he will be recompensed with a full and the best recompense. 41 And that to your Lord (Allah) is the End (Return of everything). 42 and that He it is Who causes people to laugh and to cry, 43 And that it is He who causes death and gives life 44 and that He Himself created the two sexes: male and female, 45 From a drop of liquid, when it is added? 46 and on Him depends the life hereafter. 47 And that it is He who enriches and suffices 48 That He is the Lord of Sirius (the Mighty Star); 49 And that He destroyed the former (tribe of) A'ad, 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace [of them,] 51 and before them the people of Noah who were even more unjust and insolent; 52 And He destroyed the Overthrown Cities (of Sodom and Gomorrah). 53 So that they were covered over by what they were covered over. 54 Which then of thy Lord's benefits wilt thou doubt? 55 This is a warning among the warnings of yore. 56 The Day of Resurrection draws near, 57 None, except Allah, can avert it. 58 Does this statement seem strange to them 59 And you laugh and do not weep 60 While you are indulging in varieties. 61 So fall you down in prostration to Allah, and worship Him (Alone). ۩ 62
