The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
