Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 And cushions lined up 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
