Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ OH, THE LAYING-BARE of the truth! 1 What is the Inevitable Calamity? 2 And what will teach thee what is the Indubitable? 3 Samood and Ad called the striking calamity a lie. 4 Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms! 7 Do you then see of them one remaining? 8 Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, 9 They therefore disobeyed the Noble Messengers of their Lord – so He seized them with an intense seizure. 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 In order to make it a warning for you, and that the ear retentive may preserve it. 12 So when the Trumpet will be blown, with a sudden single blow. 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing, 14 And so, that which must come to pass will on that day have come to pass; 15 and heaven shall be split, for upon that day it shall be very frail, 16 And the angels will be on its sides; and on that day, eight angels will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book! 19 I was certain I'll be given my account." 20 So he shall be in a life of pleasure, 21 in a lofty garden, 22 the clusters of whose fruit will be hanging low to be within reach (of the inmates of Paradise). 23 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. 24 But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record, 25 "And that I had never realised how my account (stood)! 26 How I wish my death had ended all. 27 My riches have not availed me, 28 My authority is gone away from me. 29 (The stern command will say): "Seize ye him, and bind ye him, 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 Fasten a chain to them - seventy cubits long - 32 Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 “And did not urge to feed the needy.” 34 So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend 35 “Nor any food except the pus discharged from the people of hell.” 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
