The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is folded up, 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 The rising dawn, 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
