Indeed We created man from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud. 26 and the jinn We had created before from flaming fire. 27 When your Lord said to the angels: 'See, I am creating a mortal from clay of molded mud. 28 Then when I have formed him and breathed into him of My Spirit fall down unto him prostrate. 29 Thereupon the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together, 30 Not so Iblis: he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves. 31 Said He, 'What ails thee, Iblis, that thou art not among those bowing?' 32 (Iblis) said: "I am not one to prostrate myself to man, whom Thou didst create from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape." 33 "Go hence, execrable," (said the Lord), "from this place, 34 and there shall be a curse upon you till the Day of Recompense." 35 Iblis said: "My Lord! Grant me respite till the Day when they will be resurrected." 36 He said: Then lo! thou art of those reprieved 37 Till the Day of the Time known. 38 [Iblees] said, "My Lord, because You have put me in error, I will surely make [disobedience] attractive to them on earth, and I will mislead them all 39 "Except Thy servants among them, sincere and purified (by Thy Grace)." 40 (Allah) said: "This is the Way which will lead straight to Me." 41 Indeed, My servants - no authority will you have over them, except those who follow you of the deviators. 42 And surely Hell is the promised place of them all: 43 To it are seven gates: for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned. 44
