Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Ha, Meem. 1 A revelation from the Beneficent, the Merciful, 2 The verses of this Book have been fully expounded. It is a reading in the Arabic language for the people of knowledge. 3 good tidings to bear, and warning, but most of them have turned away, and do not give ear. 4 They say: "Our hearts are under veils, (concealed) from that to which thou dost invite us, and in our ears is a deafness, and between us and thee is a screen: so do thou (what thou wilt); for us, we shall do (what we will!)" 5 Say: "I am a man like you, (but) it is revealed to me that your God is one God, so take the straight path to Him, and ask Him to forgive your sins. Woe to the idolaters 6 [and] those who do not spend in charity: for it is they, they who [thus] deny the truth of the life to come! 7 But those who believe and do the right, will have a continuing reward. 8
