Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
BEHOLD. We sent Noah unto his people. [Saying:] "Warn thy people ere grievous suffering befall them! 1 He said: "O my people! Verily, I am a plain warner to you, 2 (Bidding you): Serve Allah and keep your duty unto Him and obey me, 3 He will forgive you your sins, and will defer you to an appointed term. Verily the term of Allah when it cometh shall not be deferred, if ye but knew. 4 Noah said, "My Lord, I have been preaching to my people, night and day, 5 but my call has only caused them to flee farther and farther away [from Thee]. 6 And every time I called them so that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears and wrapped up their faces with their garments and obstinately clung to their attitude, and waxed very proud. 7 "And behold I called unto them openly; 8 And lo! I have made public proclamation unto them, and I have appealed to them in private. 9 And I have said: Seek pardon of your Lord. Lo! He was ever Forgiving. 10 He will send down abundant rain from the sky for you, 11 ‘And will aid you with wealth and sons, and will create gardens for you and cause rivers to flow for you.’ 12 What is the matter with you that you deny the greatness of God, 13 While He has created you in stages? 14 "Have you not seen that God has created the seven heavens one above the other 15 and has set up within them the moon as a light [reflected] and set up the sun as a [radiant] lamp? 16 And Allah has caused you to grow out of the earth so wondrously, 17 "'And in the End He will return you into the (earth), and raise you forth (again at the Resurrection)? 18 And Allah hath made the earth a wide expanse for you 19 That you may go about therein in broad roads. 20
