Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 and by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Does man imagine that We will not be able to bring his bones together again? 3 Yea, verily. We are Able to restore his very fingers! 4 But man desires to persist in his evil ways. 5 He asks: “When will the Day of Resurrection be?” 6 Yet when the eyes are dazzled, 7 and the moon is darkened, 8 when the sun and moon are gathered together 9 on that Day will man say: “Whither the refuge?” 10 No, there shall be no (place of) refuge. 11 Upon that day the recourse shall be to thy Lord. 12 Upon that day man shall be told his former deeds and his latter; 13 Oh, but man is a telling witness against himself, 14 in spite of all the excuses he may offer. 15 Move not thy tongue concerning the (Qur'an) to make haste therewith. 16 We Ourself shall see to its collection and recital. 17 When We have recited it, follow its words attentively; 18 And thereafter verily upon us is the expounding thereof. 19 No! But you love the immediate 20 And leave the Hereafter. 21 On that Day there shall be radiant faces, 22 Looking toward their Lord; 23 and some faces will on that Day be overcast with despair, 24 Imagining that there will befall them a waiste-breaking calomity. 25 NAY, but when [the last breath] comes up to the throat [of a dying man,] 26 And they will say, “Is there any one – any magician?” 27 and he realises that the hour of parting is come, 28 And one shank is entangled with the other shank. 29 upon that Day the driving shall be to your Lord. 30
