The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 About which they differ? 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
