He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 to a rich man, 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 and who has fear of God, 9 you pay him no heed. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 And olives and date palms, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And his mother and his father 35 wife and sons, 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
