The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 And when the books are spread, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of the cursed Shaitan, 25 Whither then will you go? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
