The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, 2 by those that swim serenely 3 Then outpace the others swiftly 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 On the Day, the shiverer shivers 6 and will be followed by the second one, 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." 12 Indeed, it will be but one shout, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself? 18 And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" 19 Then Moses (went to Pharaoh and) showed him the Great Sign; 20 But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
