Indeed We created man from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud. 26 while We had brought the jinn into being before out of blazing fire. 27 And when your Lord said to the angels: Surely I am going to create a mortal of the essence of black mud fashioned in shape. 28 and when I have formed him fully and breathed into him of My spirit, fall down before him in prostration! 29 So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together: 30 But Iblis did not; he refused to be with the prostrates. 31 Said Allah, “O Iblis! What happened to you that you stayed apart from those who prostrated?” 32 (Iblis) said: "I am not one to prostrate myself to man, whom Thou didst create from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape." 33 (Allah) said: "Then, get out from here, for verily, you are Rajim (an outcast or a cursed one)." [Tafsir At-Tabari] 34 Upon thee shall rest the curse, till the Day of Doom.' 35 Satan said, "O my Lord! Grant me respite till the Day of Resurrection." 36 Answered He: "Verily, so be it: thou shalt be among those who are granted respite 37 Till the period of the time made known. 38 He said, "My Lord, since You have let me go astray. I shall make the path of error seem alluring to them on the earth and shall mislead them all, 39 "Except Your chosen, (guided) slaves among them." 40 Said He, 'This is for Me a straight path: 41 over My servants thou shalt have no authority, except those that follow thee, 42 and for all such, behold, hell is the promised goal. 43 There are seven gates in it, and to each gate a portion of them has been allotted. 44
