۞ Muster those who did evil, their wives, and that they were serving, 22 Besides Allah, then lead them to the way to hell. 23 Stop them. They must be questioned." 24 'Why do you not help one another? 25 No, today they will resign themselves in submission, 26 And some of them will confront the others, 27 These say, 'Why, you of old would come to us from the right hand.' 28 Those say, 'No; on the contrary, you were not believers; 29 And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people. 30 So on us hath been justified the sentence of our Lord: verily we are to taste. 31 We mislead you and we ourselves had also gone astray." 32 So verily on that Day they all in the torment will be sharers. 33 That is how We deal with sinners. 34 For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride, 35 And they used to say, “Shall we forsake our Gods upon the sayings of a mad poet?” 36 In fact, he had brought them the truth and had acknowledged the Messengers (who were sent before him). 37 Verily, you (pagans of Makkah) are going to taste the painful torment; 38 And be rewarded but only for what you had done, 39 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 40 Those will have a provision determined - 41 as the fruits [of their life on earth]; and honoured shall they be 42 In gardens of pleasure, 43 Facing each other on Thrones (of Dignity): 44 A cup will be passed round among them [with a drink] from unsullied springs, 45 delicious to those who drink it 46 no headiness will be in it, and they will not get drunk thereon. 47 And with them will be mates of modest gaze, most beautiful of eye, 48 As if they were eggs carefully protected. 49 So one among them turns to the other, questioning. – 50 One of them will say, "I had a companion who asked me, 51 "Who used to say, 'what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)? 52 Can we, when we are dead and have become mere dust and bones - can we (then) verily be brought to book? 53 He said: 'Will you look down?' 54 Then, he will look and see him in the midst of Hell. 55 He will say to his friend in hell, "By God, you almost destroyed me. 56 “And were it not for the munificence of my Lord, I too would have been seized and brought forth (captive)!” 57 Are we then not to die 58 "Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise)." 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 for the like of this let the workers work.' 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of AzZakkum! 62 Surely We have made it to be a trial to the unjust. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hellfire: 64 Its spathes are like the prickly pear. 65 Then most surely they shall eat of it and fill (their) bellies with it. 66 Washing it down with boiling water. 67 And once again: Verily, the blazing fire is their ultimate goal 68 for, behold, they found their forebears on a wrong way, 69 and rushed to follow them. 70 Thus, indeed, most of the people of old went astray before them, 71 And We had sent admonishers to them. 72 See how terrible was the end of those who were warned. 73 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 74
