Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The indubitable event! 1 How tremendous is the true event! 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 Thamud and 'Ad people denied the Qari'ah [the striking Hour (of Judgement)]! 4 Then as to Samood, they were destroyed by an excessively severe punishment. 5 And as for 'Aad they were destroyed by a wind, furious, roaring. 6 Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms! 7 Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them? 8 And Pharaoh, and those before him, and the Cities Overthrown, committed habitual Sin. 9 They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. 10 But We bore you away in the Ark, when the waters rose high, 11 making it a Reminder for you, for all attentive ears to retain. 12 Then, when one blast is sounded on the Trumpet, 13 And the earth is moved, and its mountains, and they are crushed to powder at one stroke,- 14 So that is the day when the forthcoming event will occur. 15 and the sky will be rent asunder - for, frail will it have become on that Day; 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight angels will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 The Day whereon ye shall be mustered nothing hidden by you shall be hidden. 18 On that Day, he whose Record is given to him in his right hand will say: “Lo! Read my Record! 19 Surely I knew that I shall meet my account. 20 Then he will be in blissful state 21 in a lofty Garden, 22 Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near. 23 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. 24 But as for him who will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "I wish that I had not been given my Record! 25 And not known my account! 26 O would that it had made an end (of me): 27 My wealth has not helped me a thing 28 My power hath gone from me. 29 Lay hold of him and chain him; 30 Then throw him in the blazing Fire. 31 And then insert him in a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits. 32 Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, 33 Nor urged others to feed the poor. 34 So no friend has he here this Day, 35 and has no food except the filth from the washing of wounds, 36 which only the sinners eat". 37
