Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 In a high Garden 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 And cushions ranged 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
