The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 Created man from a clinging substance. 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
