And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 Said he: "Do [you really think that] they hear you when you invoke them, 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 He said, “Do you see these – (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 You and your fathers? 76 "Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 He who cures me when I am ill; 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 and place me among those who shall inherit the garden of bliss! 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 Do not degrade me on the Day when they are resurrected. 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
