The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By oath of the beloved shining star Mohammed (peace and blessings be upon him), when he returned from the Ascent. 1 your companion has neither strayed nor is he misguided, 2 Nor does he speak out of desire. 3 It is naught save an inspiration that is inspired, 4 The Lord of Mighty Power has taught him, 5 The Strong; then the Spectacle inclined towards him. 6 While he was in the higher [part of the] horizon. 7 Then he [Jibrael (Gabriel)] approached and came closer, 8 until he was but two bow-lengths away, or even nearer. 9 So did (Allah) convey the inspiration to His Servant- (conveyed) what He (meant) to convey. 10 The heart lied not in that which he saw. 11 So will you dispute with him over what he saw? 12 And indeed he did see the Spectacle again. 13 at the Lote Tree (Sidrat tree) of the ending 14 Close to which is the Garden of Tranquility, 15 When the tree was covered with a covering, 16 The eye did not turn aside, nor did it exceed the limit. 17 For truly did he see, of the Signs of his Lord, the Greatest! 18 HAVE YOU, then, ever considered [what you are worshipping in] Al-Lat and Al-Uzza, 19 And Manat the other third? 20 Are there sons for you, and daughters for Him? 21 That indeed is an unfair division -- 22 They are nothing but some names that you have coined, you and your forefathers – Allah has not sent any proof for them; they follow only guesses and their own desires; whereas the guidance from their Lord has come to them. 23 Can ever man get what he desires? 24 But it is to Allah that the End and the Beginning (of all things) belong. 25
