The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);- 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 (It is) the piercing star. 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 He was created of spurting water 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 I swear by the raingiving heavens, 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 the Quran is the final word, 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 but I too plan against them. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
