Sad. By the Qur'an full of admonition. 1 No, the unbelievers exalt in their division. 2 How many a generation We have destroyed before them, and they cried out when there was no longer time for escape! 3 And they (Arab pagans) wonder that a warner (Prophet Muhammad SAW) has come to them from among themselves! And the disbelievers say: "This (Prophet Muhammad SAW) is a sorcerer, a liar. 4 Maketh he the gods One Allah? Lo! that is an astounding thing. 5 And their leaders launch forth [thus]: "Go ahead, and hold steadfastly onto your deities: this, behold, is the only thing to do! 6 We have not heard this in the religious community close to our time. This is nothing but a fabrication. 7 What, has the Remembrance been sent down on him out of us all?' Nay, but they are in doubt of My Remembrance; nay, they have not yet tasted My chastisement. 8 Or do they hold the treasures of the mercy of your Lord, the Almighty, the Great Bestower? 9 Or is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, theirs? Then let them climb up the ladders (to the heavens). 10 This is only a small army out of the several armies that will suffer defeat here. 11 Before them the people of Noah, Ad, and Pharaoh of the tent-pegs gave the lie (to the Messengers) 12 and the tribe of Thamud, and the people of Lot, and the dwellers of the Wood -- these were the confederates. 13 None of them was such that it did not deny the Noble Messengers, therefore My punishment became inevitable. 14
