It was We Who created man, and We know what dark suggestions his soul makes to him: for We are nearer to him than (his) jugular vein. 16 [And so,] whenever the two demands [of his nature] come face to face, contending from the right and from the left, 17 He uttereth no word but there is with him an observer ready. 18 And the stupor of death will come in truth; that is what you were trying to escape. 19 And the trumpet is blown. This is the threatened Day. 20 Everyone has come, each attended by one who will drive him on, and another who will bear witness. 21 You were heedless of this, but now We have removed your veil, so your sight today is sharp. 22 And his companion will say: 'This is that which I have present' 23 It will be said to the angels, “Both of you fling every excessive ungrateful, stubborn person into hell.” 24 hinderer of good, transgressor, causing others to doubt, 25 and an idol worshipper. Throw him into severe torment". 26 ۞ and his associate [Satan] will say, "Lord, I did not make him transgress, he had already gone far astray himself." 27 He will say, “Do not dispute before Me – I had already warned you of the punishment.” 28 The sentence that cometh from Me cannot be changed, and I am in no wise a tyrant unto the slaves. 29
