Said the Chiefs of the people of Pharaoh: "This is indeed a sorcerer well-versed. 109 “He wishes to expel you all from your kingdom; so what do you advise?” 110 They said, 'Put him and his brother off a while, and send among the cities musterers, 111 Who will bring you every learned magician." 112 And the magicians came to Pharaoh. They said, "Indeed for us is a reward if we are the predominant." 113 "Yes," said he, "you will be among the honoured." 114 They said, "O Moses, either you throw [your staff], or we will be the ones to throw [first]." 115 Moses said: 'You throw.' So when they threw [their rods], they enchanted the eyes of the people, and struck them with awe, and produced a mighty sorcery. 116 Then We directed Moses: 'Now you throw your rod.' And lo! it swallowed up all their false devices. 117 ۞ Thus the Truth prevailed and their false art was banished. 118 Thus there and then they were vanquished and overthrown, humiliated. 119 And the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allah]. 120 Crying: We believe in the Lord of the Worlds, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron. 122 But Pharaoh said: "You have come to accept belief in Him without my permission! This surely is a plot you have hatched to expel the people from the land. You will soon come to know. 123 Surely I will cut off your hands and feet on the opposite sides and thereafter I will crucify you all. 124 The magicians said, "We will certainly return to Our Lord. 125 And you do not take revenge on us except because we have believed in the communications of our Lord when they came to us! Our Lord: Pour out upon us patience and cause us to die in submission. 126
