Man We fashioned from fermented clay dried tingling hard, 26 And the jinn did We create aforetime of essential fire. 27 And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: "I am going to create a man (Adam) from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud. 28 When I have formed him and breathed My spirit into him, fall down in prostration before him," 29 So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together. 30 Save Iblis. He refused to be among the prostrate. 31 Said Allah, “O Iblis! What happened to you that you stayed apart from those who prostrated?” 32 He said: I am not such that I should make obeisance to a mortal whom Thou hast created of the essence of black mud fashioned in shape. 33 He said: Then go thou forth from hence, for lo! thou art outcast. 34 "And the curse shall be on thee till the day of Judgment." 35 Said he, 'My Lord, respite me till the day they shall be raised.' 36 Allah said: "For sure you are granted respite 37 "Till the Day of the time appointed." 38 He said: my Lord! because Thou hast led me to err I will surely make things fairseeming unto them on the earth and will surely seduce them all: 39 Except Thy servants from among them, the devoted ones. 40 (Allah) said: "This is the Way which will lead straight to Me." 41 verily, thou shalt have no power over My creatures - unless it be such as are [already] lost in grievous error and follow thee [of their own will]: 42 And verily Hell is the place promised unto them all. 43 It has seven gates; for every gate there shall be a separate party of them. 44
