۞ (And it is said unto the angels): Assemble those who did wrong, together with their wives and what they used to worship 22 Other than God," (the angels will be told), "then show them the way to Hell, 23 And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned." 24 “What is the matter with you, that you do not help one another?” 25 Nay! on that day they shall be submissive. 26 They will then turn towards each other (and start wrangling). 27 They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right." 28 The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers, 29 And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people. 30 and so we became deserving of the Word of our Lord that we shall be made to suffer chastisement. 31 Thus we misled you. Lo! we were (ourselves) astray. 32 Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment. 33 Verily We! in this wise We deal with the culprits. 34 Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). 35 And they used to say, “Shall we forsake our Gods upon the sayings of a mad poet?” 36 In fact he has brought the Truth, and testified for the Noble Messengers! 37 Verily ye are going to taste a torment afflictive. 38 And ye shall be required not except for that which ye have been doing; 39 Save the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 40 shall have a known provision -- 41 and fruits while they are honored. 42 in the Gardens of Delight, 43 Facing one another on thrones. 44 There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. 47 And with them are those who do not set gaze upon men except their husbands, the maidens with gorgeous eyes. 48 (Pure) as they were hidden eggs (of the ostrich). 49 Then they will advance unto each other, mutually questioning. 50 A speaker of them saith: Lo! I had a comrade 51 'Do you believe in the Day of Judgment? 52 When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we be recompensed?" 53 He saith: Will ye look? 54 Then, he will look and see him in the midst of Hell. 55 He said: "By Allah! thou wast little short of bringing me to perdition! 56 “And were it not for the munificence of my Lord, I too would have been seized and brought forth (captive)!” 57 So, are we not going to die, 58 Except our previous death? And we shall not be chastised? 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 for which one must strive hard. 61 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum 62 Surely We have made it to be a trial to the unjust. 63 Indeed it is a tree that sprouts from the base of hell. 64 Its fruit like the heads of demons. 65 and they [who are lost in evil] are indeed bound to eat thereof, and to fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then they will have on top of it a mixture of boiling water. 67 And afterward, lo! their return is surely unto hell. 68 They found their fathers had gone astray; 69 yet they run in their footsteps, 70 And indeed before them, most of the former people went astray. 71 We had certainly sent warners to them. 72 Therefore see what sort of fate befell those who were warned! 73 Except the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah. 74
