AND HAS the story of Abraham's honoured guests ever come within thy ken? 24 When they came to him, they said: “Peace”; he said: “Peace also be to you; (you seem to be) a group of strangers.” 25 Then he turned to his household and brought a fattened calf, 26 And he set it before them, saying: Will ye not eat? 27 Then he conceived a fear about them, and they said: 'Have no fear', and gave him the glad tidings that he was to have a knowledgeable son. 28 Then came forward his wife, clamouring, and she smote her face, and said, 'An old woman, barren!' 29 They said, "Even so has thy Lord spoken: and He is full of Wisdom and Knowledge." 30 ۞ [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Then for what purpose you have come, O Messengers?" 31 They replied: “Behold, we have been sent to a wicked people 32 That we may send upon them stones of clay, 33 marked by your Lord upon those who go beyond the limits.” 34 We saved all the faithful in the town. 35 but We found only one Muslim house. 36 and left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 And in Musa (Moses) (too, there is a sign). When We sent him to Fir'aun (Pharaoh) with a manifest authority. 38 But he turned away with his supporters and said," A magician or a madman." 39 So We seized him and his hosts, and We cast them into the sea, and he blameworthy. 40 And in 'Aad [was a sign], when We sent against them the barren wind. 41 that left nothing it came upon, but made it as stuff decayed. 42 And in the tribe of Thamud when it was told to them, “Enjoy for a while.” 43 But they rebelled against their Lord's decree, and so the thunderbolt overtook them even while they gazed; 44 and they were not able to stand upright, and were not helped. 45 And [thus, too, We destroyed] Noah's people aforetime: for they were iniquitous folk. 46
