The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By those that pluck out vehemently 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 Hearts that Day will be in agitation; 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned away in a hurry, 22 Then he gathered (men) and called out. 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
