AND HAS the story of Abraham's honoured guests ever come within thy ken? 24 When they came to him, they said: "Peace." He answered: "Peace." They were a people he did not recognise. 25 Then he turned quickly to his household, brought out a fatted calf, 26 and placed it before them. "Will you not eat?" he said, 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said: fear not. And they gave him the tidings of a youth knowing. 28 And his wife approached with a cry [of alarm] and struck her face and said, "[I am] a barren old woman!" 29 They answered: "Thus has thy Sustainer decreed; and verily, He alone is truly wise, all-knowing!" 30 ۞ Abraham asked, "What is your errand, O messengers?" 31 They said: "We have been sent to a people who are Mujrimun (polytheists, sinners, criminals, disbelievers in Allah); 32 “To throw upon them stones of baked clay.” 33 which are marked by your Lord for the punishment of those guilty of excesses." 34 Then we brought forth such believers as were there. 35 But We found not there any household of the Muslims except one [i.e. Lout (Lot) and his two daughters]. 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the afflictive torment. 37 And also in Moses, when We sent him unto Pharaoh, with a clear authority, 38 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] turned away (from Belief in might) along with his hosts, and said: "A sorcerer, or a madman." 39 So We seized him and his hosts, and We cast them into the sea, and he blameworthy. 40 And in Ad: When We sent upon them the destructive wind. 41 It left not aught whereon it came but it made it as matter decayed. 42 And in the tribe of Thamud when it was told to them, “Enjoy for a while.” 43 But they rebelled against their Lord's decree, and so the thunderbolt overtook them even while they gazed; 44 And neither stand up nor defend themselves. 45 And the folk of Noah aforetime. Lo! they were licentious folk. 46
