The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water gushing, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For those on the right. 38
