By the moon, 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 a warning to mortal man 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 Except the Companions of the Right Hand. 39 In Gardens; they shall be asking, 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 and neither did we feed the needy; 44 "And we used to talk falsehood (all that which Allah hated) with vain talkers. 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 What is the matter with people that they are turning away from this Exhortation, 49 As though they were asses startled. 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 No indeed; each one of them desires that open letters be sent to each of them. 52 No! They do not fear the Hereafter -- 53 Nay, verily, this is an admonition 54 Let him who will take heed: 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
