The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
