The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 the records of deeds are made public, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
