The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 It is the piercing star - 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 So let man consider from what he is created. 5 he has been created out of a seminal fluid 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants) 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 They are devising guile, 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
