S (Saad)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Sad. CONSIDER this Qur'an, endowed with all that one ought to remember! 1 Verily those who disbelieve are in vainglory and schism. 2 How many a generation We have destroyed before them, and they cried out when there was no longer time for escape! 3 They are surprised that a warner should come to them from among themselves. They say, "This is a magician, a great liar. 4 Maketh he the gods One Allah? Lo! that is an astounding thing. 5 And the leaders among them went about (saying): "Go on, and remain constant to your aliha (gods)! Verily, This is a thing designed (against you)! 6 We have not heard this in the religious community close to our time. This is nothing but a fabrication. 7 Has this Exhortation been sent down among us only to him, to the exclusion of all others?” Nay, they are in doubt regarding My Exhortation, and are saying all this because they have not yet had any taste of My chastisement. 8 Do they possess the treasures of the mercy of your, (Muhammad's), Lord, the Majestic and Munificent God? 9 Or [that] the dominion over the heavens and the earth and all that is between them is theirs? Why, then, let them try to ascend [to God-like power] by all [conceivable] means! 10 Here there is a host of the confederates only to be defeated. 11 Before them there have belied the people of Nuh and the 'Aad, and Fir'awn the owner of the stakes. 12 and the tribe of Thamud, and the people of Lot, and the dwellers of the Wood -- these were the confederates. 13 Each of them who rejected the Messenger become subject to Our punishment. 14
