The tribe of Thamud denied the Noble Messengers. 23 So they said, “What! Shall we follow a man from among us? If we do, we are indeed astray, and insane!” 24 "Is it that the Reminder is sent to him [Prophet Salih (Saleh)] alone from among us? Nay, he is an insolent liar!" 25 (To him We said): 'Tomorrow they shall know who is the arrogant liar. 26 We are sending the she-camel to them to test them. So watch them and be patient. 27 And tell them that the water is to be divided between them, each drink for each in turn. 28 Then they called their fellow, and he took the sword and hamstrung her, 29 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 30 We loosed against them one Cry, and they were as the wattles of a pen-builder. 31 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 32 The people of Lut denied the Noble Messengers. 33 We sent a stone-hurtling storm against them, except the family of Lot whom We saved in the early hours of the morning 34 as a blessing from Us: thus do We reward all who are grateful. 35 Lot warned them of Our punishment, but they disputed the warnings -- 36 And certainly they endeavored to turn him from his guests, but We blinded their eyes; so taste My chastisement and My warning. 37 Indeed an abiding chastisement came upon them in the morning. 38 'Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!' 39 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 40
