He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 So you are after him! 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 and fearfully, 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 On honourable pages. 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 We send down abundant water, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 and olives and palms, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
