Al-Takaathur

Hoarding (Al-Takaathur)

8 verses, revealed in Mecca after Bounty (Al-Kawthar) before Charity (Al-Maa'oon)

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

The mutual rivalry for piling up (the good things of this world) diverts you (from the more serious things), 1 until you go down to your graves. 2 Lo! presently ye shall know. 3 Again, no indeed, you shall soon know. 4 Lo! would that ye knew now with the surety of knowledge! 5 Verily, You shall see the blazing Fire (Hell)! 6 again, you shall most certainly end up seeing it with absolute certainty. 7 Then, shall ye be questioned that Day about the joy (ye indulged in!). 8

True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
