Al-Dukhaan 3 of 3
The food of the Zakkum tree 43 will be the food of the sinful: 44 Like dregs of oil; it shall boil in (their) bellies, 45 as the boiling of the hot water. 46 'Take him, and thrust him into the midst of Hell, 47 "Then pour over his head the Penalty of Boiling Water, 48 Saying “Taste it! Indeed you only are the most honourable, the dignified!” 49 This is certainly what you had denied." 50 Lo! those who kept their duty will be in a place secured. 51 In the midst of gardens and of springs, 52 They will be dressed in fine silk and embroidery, facing one another (on thrones). 53 so it will be. We shall wed them to maidens with large, dark eyes. 54 They will call therein for every kind of fruit, in peace and security. 55 and neither shall they taste death there after having passed through their erstwhile death. Thus will He have preserved them from all suffering through the blazing fire 56 As a Bounty from thy Lord! that will be the supreme achievement! 57 (O Prophet), We have made this Book easy in your tongue so that they may take heed. 58 So wait thou and watch; for they (too) are waiting. 59

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
