The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 Then outpace the others swiftly 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 Upon the day when the first blast shivers 6 to be followed by further [convulsions]! 7 Hearts, that Day, will tremble, 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 (The disbelievers) say, "Shall we be brought back to life again 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 So they will immediately be in an open plain. 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", 18 Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 but he cried lies, and rebelled, 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
