The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 Have you seen him who restrains 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 and enjoins piety? 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 We shall call on the guards of Hell. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
