And a sign for them is the dead land, that We quickened and brought forth from it grain, whereof they eat; 33 and We made therein gardens of palms and vines, and therein We caused fountains to gush forth, 34 so that they may eat of the fruit thereof, though it was not their hands that made it. Will they not, then, be grateful? 35 Purity is to Him Who created all pairs, from what the earth grows, and of themselves, and from the things they do not know. 36 And a sign for them is the night, We withdraw therefrom the day, and behold, they are in darkness. 37 The sun, too, follows its determined course laid down for it by the Almighty, the All Knowing. 38 We have ordained phases for the moon until finally it becomes like an old date-stalk. 39 It is not allowable for the sun to reach the moon, nor does the night overtake the day, but each, in an orbit, is swimming. 40 And a sign for them is that We carried their offspring in the laden Ark (of Noah). 41 And have created for them of the like thereof whereon they ride. 42 And if We will, We can drown them, so there would be no help in their distress, nor would they be saved. 43 except through Our Mercy and as enjoyment for awhile. 44 And when it is said to them: Guard against what is before you and what is behind you, that mercy may be had on you. 45 And never came an Ayah from among the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord to them, but they did turn away from it. 46 When they are told: "Spend of what God has given you," the unbelievers say to those who believe: "Why should we feed those whom God should have fed if He pleased?" You are only in palpable error. 47 And they say: when will this promise be fulfilled if ye say sooth? 48 They must be waiting for but one single blast, which will overtake them while they are still disputing. 49 They will have no time to make a will, nor shall they return to their own people. 50
