And verily Yunus was of the sent ones. 139 when he fled like a runaway slave onto a laden ship. 140 and cast lots, and he was among the losers (of the lots that were cast). 141 So the fish swallowed him while he did that for which he blamed himself 142 Had he not been one of those who glorify Allah, 143 He would have remained inside its belly until the Day they are resurrected. 144 ۞ But We cast him forth on the naked shore in a state of sickness, 145 And We made a gourd tree grow over him. 146 We sent him to a hundred thousand or more people. 147 and [this time] they believed [in him] and so We allowed them to enjoy their life during the time allotted to them? 148 Then ask them whether your Lord has daughters and they have sons. 149 Or, did We create the angels females while they were witnessing? 150 Oh, verily, it is out of their own [inclination to] falsehood that some people assert, 151 'God has begotten a son.' They are certainly liars. 152 Has He (then) chosen daughters rather than sons? 153 What is the matter with you? How do you form your judgement? 154 Will you not then remember? 155 Do you have clear authority? 156 Bring your book if what you say is true. 157 They claim that He has kinship with the jinn, yet the jinn themselves know that they will be produced before Him [for judgement]. 158 Glory to Allah! (He is free) from the things they ascribe (to Him)! 159 But not so the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 160 Wherefore verily neither ye nor that which ye worship, 161 you shall not tempt any against Him 162 unless it be such as rushes towards the blazing fire [of his own accord]! 163 And there is none of us but has an assigned place, 164 Verily, we (angels), we stand in rows for the prayers (as you Muslims stand in rows for your prayers); 165 and we glorify God". 166 They used to say before: 167 If we had but a reminder from the men of old 168 we would certainly be true servants of God." 169 But when it came to them, they rejected it. They shall soon come to know (the end of such an attitude). 170 And verily Our word went forth of old unto Our bondmen sent (to warn) 171 That undoubtedly, only they will be helped. 172 And that Our host, they verily would be the victors. 173 So turn thou from them for a while, 174 and see them; soon they shall see! 175 So are they being impatient for Our punishment? 176 But when it descends into the open space before them, evil will be the morning for those who were warned (and heeded not)! 177 So turn (O Muhammad SAW) away from them for a while, 178 and see [them for what they are]; and in time they [too] will come to see [what they do not see now]. 179 LIMITLESS in His glory is thy Sustainer, the Lord of almightiness, [exalted] above anything that men may devise by way of definition! 180 And peace be on the apostles. 181 and praise be to God, the Lord of all the Worlds. 182
