The Mountain (Al-Toor)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount; 1 by the book (Torah) written 2 on unrolled parchment, 3 And the House frequented, 4 By the roof elevated. 5 and the sea swarming, 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 there is no one who could avert it, 8 On the day when the heaven shall move from side to side 9 and the mountains will move with [an awesome] movement. 10 On that Day woe to those who belied 11 who divert themselves with idle chatter: 12 On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): 13 (And it is said unto them): This is the Fire which ye were wont to deny. 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 Taste you therein its heat, and whether you are patient of it or impatient of it, it is all the same. You are only being requited for what you used to do. 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 Delighted at the bestowal of their Lord; and their Lord has saved them from the fire. 18 "Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do." 19 They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes. 20 And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. 21 We shall give them fruits and meat as they desire. 22 while they pass therein a cup one to another wherein is no idle talk, no cause of sin, 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 25 'When we were among our people' they will say, 'we were ever fearful, 26 So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire. 27 “Indeed we used to worship Him in our previous life; indeed He only is the Benign, the Most Merciful.” 28
